Objective: To investigate the status of subjective well-being, anxiety and personality characteristics,and to explore the relationship between the three variables in nurses. Methods: A total of 544 nurses from a Class A tertiary hospitals were investigated by DISC personality inventory, self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and general well-being schedule(GWB).Results: The subjective well-being score of nurses was 63.12±14.52,and the anxiety score was 45.50±9.90. Among them, dominant personality accounted for 34.6%, influential personality accounted for 24.4%, stable personality accounted for 22.1%, and obedient personality accounted for 18.9%. There were statistically significant differences in subjective well-being and anxiety among nurses with different personalities (
P<0.05). Anxiety was a mediating variable between personality and subjective well-being in nurses. Conclusion: Anxiety has mediating effect between personality characteristics and subjective well -being in nurses. Nursing managers should focus on cultivating good personality traits,reducing nurses anxiety levels,and enhancing nurses’ subjective well-being.
