Cognitive situation of human papillomavirus and its vaccine among nursing students

Abstract:  

Objective: To investigate the cognitive situation of human papillomavirus (HPV) and its vaccine in nursing students. Methods: Convenient sampling was used to recruit a total of 598 nursing students from the teaching hospitals and medical universities in Beijing and Tianjin. Results: 52.8% of nursing students had ever heard HPV, only 29.6 % had ever heard HPV vaccine, the source of information of HPV and its vaccine were mainly from teachers. 72.6 % were willing to have HPV vaccine. Higher grade and no history of sexual behavior affected the score of HPV’s knowledge-attitude-belief-practice most positively. Conclusion: Although the nursing students’ awareness rate of HPV was high, they were still lack of correct understanding about HPV infection and HPV vaccine. More health education should be done especially for nursing students with lower grade and having history of sexual behavior, so as to improve the cognitive level of nursing students and promote propaganda work.

目的:调查护理学专业学生对人乳头瘤病毒(HPV)及其疫苗的认知情况。方法:采用便利抽样法选取京津两地教学医院及医学院校598名护理学专业学生进行横断面调查。结果:52.8%的护生听说过HPV,仅29.6%听说过HPV疫苗,信息来源主要是教师课堂讲授,72.6%愿意接种HPV疫苗。高年级、无性行为史的护理学专业学生知信行得分较高。结论:虽然护理学专业学生HPV知晓率较高,但对HPV感染及HPV疫苗等相关知识缺乏全面深入的了解,应对其加强健康宣教,特别是对低年级、有性行为史的护理学专业学生,提高他们的认知水平,以促进HPV及其疫苗的健康宣传工作。
