Investigation and analysis on the present situation of postgraduate training in nursing majors in China

Abstract:  

Objective: To understand the status of postgraduate training in nursing majors in China, and to provide a basis for the construction of postgraduate training programs for geriatric nursing students. Based on the theory of competency-based theory, a self-made questionnaire was used to facilitate the sampling method.Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted among 84 nursing graduate students and 26 nursing graduate tutors in 15 universities across the country. Results: Among the respondents, 88.1% of nursing professional degree graduates and 96.5% of nursing graduate tutors believed that the most suitable ability of nursing graduate students in clinical practice is nursing technology, 84.5% nursing professional degree graduates and 88.5% tutors believed that the second in importance is communication and coordination ability; the professional quality, humanistic care, and ideological and morality of the graduate students and tutors in clinical practice should account for 94.1%, 90.5%, 86.9%, and 100%, 100%, and 100%, respectively; 26.19% of nursing masters hope to engage in clinical advanced nursing practice in the future; 9.5% of nursing professional degree graduates had full-time clinical guidance doctors. Conclusion: Nursing professional degree graduates should pay attention to the cultivation of ideological and moral and humanistic care. In clinical nursing practice, students should focus on cultivating technical ability and communication and coordination skills. Hospitals with qualified conditions should be equipped with specialized high-level clinical instructors to improve student specialties skills, to achieve the simultaneous development of professional skills and human care.
