Development and validity test of the caregiving ability scale for family primary caregivers of school-age children with epilepsy

Objective: To develop the caregiving ability scale for family primary caregivers of school-age children with epilepsy and evaluate its reliability and validity. Methods: Based on theoretical research, literature research, and semi-structured interviews, the caregiving ability scale for family primary caregivers of school-age children with epilepsy was developed through Delphi expert correspondence and pre-investigation. A convenience sampling method was used to survey 211 school-age children with epilepsy and their families from three grade Ⅲ and first-class hospitals in Tianjin between September and October 2021. Item analysis and reliability and validity evaluations were conducted on the scale. Results: The caregiving ability scale for family primary caregivers of school-age children with epilepsy includes three dimensions. There are psychosocial, medical management, and role and behavior. The scale comprised 25 items, with a cumulative variance explanation rate of 64.191%. The Cronbach′s α coefficients for the dimensions ranged from 0.903 to 0.936, and the overall Cronbach′s α coefficient for the scale was 0.961, with the odd-even split reliability of 0.975. The content validity index for the overall scale was 0.980. Conclusion: The caregiving ability scale for family primary caregivers of school-age children with epilepsy demonstrates good reliability and validity and can be used to assess the caregiving ability of caregivers for school-age children with epilepsy.

The effect of family member synchronous empowerment education on self-perceived burden and quality of life in patients with esophageal cancer undergoing radiotherapy

Objective: To explore the influence of family members′ synchronous empowerment education on self-perceived burden and quality of life in patients with esophageal cancer undergoing radiotherapy, and to provide reference for the clinical implementation of family-based health education. Methods: A total of 82 patients with esophageal cancer who met the standard of radiotherapy were included from April 2021 to April 2022. Patients were divided into control group and observation group according to admission time. In the control group( n=41), patients were given empowerment education during radiotherapy. The observation group( n=41) was implemented synchronous empowerment education for family members and patients. The intervention time was from one day before radiotherapy to the end of radiotherapy. Before radiotherapy, at the end of radiotherapy, and one month after radiotherapy, patients with esophageal cancer were evaluated with the Self-Perceived Burden Scale (SPBS) and the EORTC Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30(EORTC QOL-C30). Results: At the end of radiotherapy and one month after radiotherapy, the total score of SPBS and the scores of physical, economic and emotional dimensions in the control group were higher than those in the observation group( P<0.05). The scores of QOL in the control group were lower than those in the observation group( P<0.05). Conclusion: Nurses should pay attention to the physical and mental health of family members in clinic, empower family members synchronously and improve their nursing ability, which is conducive to reducing the burden of patients′ self -feeling and improving their quality of life.

Analysis on the status and influencing factors of decent work perceptions in nurses with master degree

Objective: To explore the current situation of decent work perception in nurses with master degree and to analyze the influencing factors. Methods: Random sampling method was adopted and a total of 379 nurses with master degree in 12 general hospitals in Zhengzhou were included. A general information questionnaire, decent work perception scale, workfamily support scale and Chinese nurse work stressor scale were used. Results: The decent work perception score of nurses with master degree was 50.89±11.79. The regression analysis showed that the leadership position, salary income, whether you are a specialist nurse, the number of times of studying or further education per year, family support, work support, and work pressure were influencing factors of the perception of decent work in nurses with master degree( P<0.05), which were explaining 69.7% of the total variance. Conclusion: The level of decent work perception among nurses with master degree needs to be improved and hospital managers need to formulate effective plans based on the actual situation to comprehensively enhance the level of decent work perception among nurses with master degree.

The effect of intervention programs based on the theory of goal attainment on the discharge readiness of patients with multiple myeloma

Objective: To explore the effect of intervention programs based on the theory of goal attainment on the discharge readiness of patients with multiple myeloma. Methods: 92 patients with multiple myeloma were included by convenient sampling and were divided into control group and observation group according to the random digital tables. The control group (47 cases) adopted routine nursing care, and the observation group (45 cases) received an intervention program based on the theory of goal attainment. The discharge readiness, self-care ability, and discharge guidance quality were compared between two groups. Results: The total score and the scores of each dimension of discharge readiness on the day of discharge in the observation group were higher than the control group( P<0.01). After the intervention, the score of discharge guidance quality in the observation group was higher than the control group ( P<0.01), and there was an interactive effect in the self-care ability score ( F=3.706, P<0.05). Conclusion: The intervention program based on the theory of compliance could improve the preparation and self-care ability of patients with multiple myeloma, and be used to provide reference for clinical nurses in the future.

Study of health-promoting behaviors and its influencing factors in breast cancer patients during rehabilitation

Objective: To investigate the level of health-promoting behaviors and analyze its influencing factors in breast cancer patients during rehabilitation. Methods: A total of 275 patients with breast cancer during rehabilitation were investigated using the questionnaires including the general information scale, the health-promoting lifestyle profileⅡ, Connor-Davidson resilience scale, Kessler psychological distress scale and perceived social support survey. The influencing factors of health-promoting behaviors were analyzed using multiple stepwise regression. Results: A total of 257 valid questionnaires were collected. The total score of health-promoting behaviors of 257 patients was 107.86±19.32. The 3 lowest scores in each dimension from low to high were physical activity, health responsibility and stress management. Multiple stepwise regression showed that endocrine therapy, daily exercise frequency, resilience, family support and friend support dimension of social support, mental health were the main factors affecting health-promoting behaviors, with 46.2% variable coefficient( F=25.823, P<0.001). Conclusion: Breast cancer patients during rehabilitation have low level of health-promoting behaviors. Healthcare providers are suggested to establish long-term follow-up and convenient consultation services, formulate scientific and targeted exercise plans, strengthen patients’ mental health assessment and intervention, improve patients’ resilience, and encourage family members to participate actively, which is significant for promoting patients’ healthy lifestyle behaviors.

Study on influencing factors and action path of choice willingness of "Internet+ nursing" in the continuous care among specialist nurses of wound, ostomy and continence: a grounded theory study

Objective: To explore the factors influencing the choice willingness of "Internet+ nursing" in the continuous care and the action path among specialist nurses of wound, ostomy and continence. Methods: A qualitative research approach guided by constructivist grounded theory was adopted. Data were collected by using semi-structured in-depth interviews on 11 specialist nurses of wound, ostomy and continence with experience of "Internet+ nursing" in the continuous care. The theoretical framework was finally formed through primary coding, focus coding and theoretical coding of the data. Results: Safety is the core of the theoretic framework and the factors influencing the choice of specialist nurses can be divided into facilitating factors and limiting factors. The facilitating factors included professional value, resource optimization and community support and the limiting factors include patient safety risk, homecare level, objective practice conditions, risk of nursing practice. Among them, patient safety risk is affected by community support, homecare level and objective practice conditions. Conclusion: Safety is the core which influence the choice willingness of "Internet+ nursing" in the continuous care and the action path among specialist nurses of wound, ostomy and continence. It is necessary to do some work to ensure healthy development of "Internet+ nursing" in the continuous care by improving laws, strengthening platform construction, formulating rules, and strengthen community support, etc.

Analysis on the status quo and influencing factors of humanistic care ability of operating room nurses in western China

Objective: To understand the current status of humanistic care ability of operating room nurses in western China,and explore its influencing factors ,so as to improve the humanistic care ability of operating room nurses in western China. Methods: 940 operating room nurses from 25 hospitals in 8 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and municipalities in western China were conveniently selected. They were investigated by the general data questionnaire and the humanistic care ability scale of nurses. Results: The total score of the humanities care ability of operating room nurses in western China was 114.78±34.18, the score rate was 63.77%. Age, only child, nurses’ understanding of humanistic care content and different degrees of care from hospital leaders affected the humanistic care ability of operating room nurses( P<0.05). Conclusion: The humanistic care ability of operating room nurses is at the middle level, which needs to be further improved. The training of humanistic care should be carried out according to the influencing factors, so as to improve their humanistic care ability.

Study on the construction of fall risk assessment scale for lung cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy

Objective: To construct a fall risk assessment scale for lung cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy, so as to provide an effective fall assessment tool for the clinic. Methods: Through literature review, case discussion and medical investigation, the initial scale item pool was established. Delphi method was used to conduct two rounds of inquiry to 22 experts, and the index screening and weight assignment of fall risk factors were carried out. Results: The effective recovery rates of two rounds of expert letters were 100% and 95.2% respectively, the authority coefficients of experts were 0.880 and 0.898 respectively, and the Kendall harmony coefficients of experts were 0.335 and 0.458 respectively( P<0.001). After two rounds of expert consultation, the fall risk assessment scale with the characteristics of lung cancer radiotherapy was developed. Conclusion: The fall risk assessment scale for lung cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy constructed by Delphi method is scientific and comprehensive, which can be used for fall risk assessment of lung cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy.

Study on the establishment of evaluation index system of continuous nursing for lung cancer patients after surgery

Objective: To establish the evaluation index system of continuous nursing for lung cancer patients after surgery. Methods: Delphi technique was used to develop the outcome assessment indicator system of continuous nursing for lung cancer patients after surgery. The Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) was used to determine the weights of all indexes. Results: 4 first-level, 14 second-level and 36 third-level indicators were included in the final outcome assessment indicator system of continuous nursing after lung cancer surgery. After two rounds of expert consultation, the effective response rate was 100.0% and 96.15%, the expert opinion proposal rate was 84.62% and 92.00%, and the expert authority coefficient was 0.87 and 0.91, and the coordination coefficient of each index was 0.396~0.424. Conclusion: The evaluation index system of continuous nursing for lung cancer patients after surgery focuses on the coordination of expert opinions at all levels, and the authority and enthusiasm of experts are high, which can provide a basis for the evaluation of continuous nursing for them.
