Abstract: Objective: To investigate the level of anticipatory grief (AG) among spouses of young adult patients with glioma and to analyze its influencing factors. Methods: The general information questionaire, Anticipatory Sadness Scale (AGS), Fear of Progression Questionnaire -Short Form/Partner Version (FoP-O-SF/P) ,and Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview were used in the survey. A total of 164 spouses of young adult patients with glioma were included. At the same time , validation of the M. D. Anderson symptom inventory brain tumor module (MDASI- BT) was used to investigate the patients. Results: The AGS score was 81.61±7.95. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that degree of fear of disease recurrence and caring burden among spouse , patients′ pathological grade, symptom distress level and self-care ability were the main influencing factors of AG among spouses of young adult patients with glioma. Conclusion: The AG of the spouses of young adult patients with glioma is obvious. Medical staff should timely and accurately identify the AG of the spouses and provide strong medical support to improve their psychological state, quality of life and care quality of patients with glioma.
