Abstract: Objective: To explore the application effect of the nutrition education program based on the transtheoretical model in esophageal cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. Methods: A total of 110 esophageal cancer patients receiving radiotherapy from June 2024 to December 2024 were selected as the study subjects and divided into the control group (55 cases) and the study group (55 cases) according to the patients suquence of admission. The control group received conventional nutrition education, while the study group received the transtheoretical model based nutrition education program. Both groups were intervened for 6 months. Differences in nutrition knowledge-attitude-practice levels, quality of life, and clinical nutrition indicators were compared before and after the intervention between the two groups. Results: A total of 108 patients completed the study, with 54 in the control group and 54 in the study group. After 6 months of intervention, the study group showed higher scores in nutrition knowledge-attitude-practice levels and quality of life than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The study group also exhibited better improvements in nutritional indicators such as body mass index, triceps skin fold thickness, albumin, and hemoglobin compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: Implementing a nutrition education program based on transtheoretical models for esophageal cancer radiotherapy patients can improve their nutritional knowledge, attitudes, and behavioral levels, thereby improving their nutritional status and quality of life.
